Abstract

The iron modified mesoporousMCM-22 zeolite catalyst was prepared using hydrothermal process. The catalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) measurement technique. The Fe-MCM-22 zeolite was found to be an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of 1H-pyrazolo[1,2-b]phthalazine-5,10-dione derivatives via one pot four component reaction between phthalic anhydride, hydrazine monohydrate, malanonitrile or ethylcyano acetate and aromatic aldehyde in ethanol as  solvent. The present method offers several advantages such as use of an inexpensive catalyst, high product yield, short reaction time, mild reaction condition and reusability of the catalyst.
